Songblog: In Like

"In Like" written by Devin Gackle, Fall 2013

So, in a nutshell, to be "in like" is my term for that honeymoon stage in the beginning of a relationship, when you know you really, really like that person and are pretty positive it could be something more.

Maybe you're not defining anything, maybe you're just going with it, but deep down you know: this is it. Everything is finally in place, the way it was meant to be. Maybe it's just something amazing and good that happened at first, and then there's that shift, when everything makes sense; that moment when you think you knew this would happen all along, from the first moment.

Is there really a way to describe it? That in between- between beginnings and forever? Maybe, maybe not. But for now I'll just call it "in like."

Lyrics:

I should be scared but I'm not and I can't figure it out

Don't know if I'm crazy, but I'm not having any doubts

We don't have the answers, our backs up against a wall

But you and me together, two good things against it all

I'm not wasting my time trying to decipher what this means

What do you call it when you're falling but you're not quite sure how fast

When you're biggest fear is wondering if it's too good to last

If there's a definition it would only tell me what I already knew

I'm in like with you

The only thing that we know is that it just feels right

Don't know if there is a way to explain what's on my mind

Now the fear is kicking in 'cause these are feelings unexplored

What does it mean when you've never felt like this before

I'm not losing any time trying to determine what this is

What do you call it when you're falling but you're not quite sure how fast

When you're biggest fear is wondering if it's too good to last

If there's a definition it would only tell me what I already knew

I'm in like with you

Eventually I would really like to know

What do you call it when you're falling but you're not quite sure how fast

When you're biggest fear is wondering if it's too good to last

If there's a definition I hope it'll tell me something I never knew

Am I in love with you

Am I in love with you
