10 Songs to Inspire You

Life getting you down? Things not going the way you wanted, or thought you wanted? People not treating you with respect, or like a shirt that doesn’t fit anymore?

Lost your respect or faith in humanity?

I know just how you feel; and, to help you out, I’ve got a list of rockin’ songs that also know exactly how you feel. I’ve also shared my favorite line from each song, as well as the main themes, just in case you’re looking for something specific—although since all the lyrics are awesome, I decided lyric videos would be rather fitting (if I could not find a lyric video, I posted an audio video so you can listen closely without the music video distracting you, even though music videos are awesome).

The only motivation you need now is to press the play button(s). So tortured souls, get ready to get some life pumped back into you:

1. "I Won’t Give In" by Asking Alexandria

My favorite line: Your smile, it eats me alive, and I can’t turn away any longer.

Line in song that provides a lesson: I won’t give in.

2. "The Light" by Disturbed

My favorite line: Don’t let hope become a memory.

Line in song that provides a lesson: Sometimes darkness can show you the light.

3. "Here’s to the Heartache" by Nothing More

My favorite line: Would you believe with time comes grace?

Line in song that provides a lesson: With time comes grace.

4. "I Am the Fire" by Halestorm

My favorite line(s): 1. Won’t let the past decide my fate, Leave forgiveness in my wake, 2. I am the one I’ve been waiting for.

Line in song that provides a lesson: I promised to myself alone and no one else, I am more than this: I am the fire.

5. "The World I Used to Know" by We Came As Romans

My favorite line: I remember the day between the past and the pain, we were never afraid of places unknown. There was nothing to fear, there was faith in the air; we will never be scared of letting go.

Line in song that provides a lesson: 1. We've been living in the shadows everyday. Are we ever gonna learn from our mistakes? 2. We've been given all these chances every day. Another step to take and this could change.

6. "The Otherside" by Red Sun Rising

My favorite line: Crawling through mud—what’s the difference when you come out on the other side…where you come out alone.

Line in song that provides a lesson: Will you come out alone?

7. "The Inbetween" by Beartooth

My favorite line: Don't let your mindset become what controls you, speak right now and make the choice to grow.

Line in song that provides a lesson: It's easy to lose yourself I know…It's easy to lose your self control, everybody gets high, everybody gets low, life can be such overdose…It's easy to lose yourself I know, in the in between.

8. "Throne" by Bring Me the Horizon

My favorite line: I forgive you; you are the reason I still fight.

Line in song that provides a lesson: Every wound will shape me, every scar will build my throne.

9. "Awake and Alive" by Skillet

My favorite line: I struggle to find my faith as I'm slippin' from your arms. It’s getting harder to stay awake, and my strength is fading fast—You breathe into me at last.

Line in song that provides a lesson: Now it’s my time, I’ll do what I want ’cause this is my life—right here, right now, stand my ground and never back down. I know what I believe inside, I’m awake and I’m alive.

10. "The Truth" by Relient K

My favorite line: It’s a world is full of cynics who say to stay alive in it you gotta stick with what you know; but the soul is always aching for the heart to start taking a chance by letting go—so let go.

Line in song that provides a lesson: Sometimes the hardest thing to believe is the truth.

You are good enough. Someone needs to tell you that. You do matter. And eventually all these pieces that are broken will fit together just the way they’re supposed to. Maybe that doesn’t mean much now. Maybe that makes you scoff (which, admittedly, I also do sometimes). But come back to this list in those moments; music is a good source of healing.

Time to get PUMPED!
