Blog/Site Update!

Yeesh - I can't believe I haven't posted anything in, like, a year and a half...

Sounds about right.

Even though I doubt anyone but me noticed, I thought it time to provide an update of sorts.

I know it'll sound eyeroll-worthy when I say I've been busy, but it's actually true. I haven't been posting because I've had a bunch of projects going on, and I've simultaneously been too lazy, overwhelmed, and unmotivated to do blog-related things.

The first project is that I joined a band - Nothing Personal. I've always wanted to be in a band, so this has been an epic experience. It also takes up a lot of time though; we usually practice once a week, and often have at least one gig a month. And, we're constantly learning new songs. So I've constantly been learning new music, which is great, but it also means I haven't had the time or energy to work on my own music. I'm trying to make it a goal to get back to that, but so far I just haven't.

Suffice it to say, I've been working through a little bit of music burnout I guess.

The second thing is my brother and I started a podcast. It's called I Heard This Song and Thought You Would Like It. Bit of a mouthful, but right nonetheless.

This has been a fun, unique way for my brother and I to share music with each other and, since we live in different states, to get in touch more frequently. The pod takes up much less time than the band, but still a decent chunk.

And the last thing is my writing. I wrote a bunch of short stories and novellas and published them on Amazon under a pen name - and I'm still doing that, so all my other writing has kind of fallen to the wayside.

Thankfully, this is a project that brings me a lot of joy instead of stress, and I published these things under a pen name because I really just do it for fun. Maybe at some point I'll "reveal" myself, but I'm happy being anonymous for the time being.

I've also been reading. Like a lot.

I can't seem to stop, actually. Most of the time when I have a free moment, I'll be reading something. Some of it is for genuine pleasure, but I have this niggling feeling it's also to decompress from everything, and I worry my reading habits are actually kind of unhealthy.

Is there such a thing?

Anyway, the plan is (hopefully) to get back on track with personal music and blog stuff - while still doing all these other things.

We'll see how it goes...
